This is a truly an exciting time for Absolute Koi as we
announce the launch of 2 new lines that will
dramatically improve the performance and ease of maintenance of
all Nexus models. They are the new Nexus Eazy™ and
the Nexus 2000/3000 range.
What this means is that whether pump or gravity fed, using an Answer or
not, we now have more efficient and more user friendly solutions for
everyone.
The evolution team have worked tirelessly to replace the
central foam that was an excellent polisher, but it was after all, ‘a foam’
and needed maintenance. In some conditions of heavy fouling, it was
difficult to clean. Evolution aqua have been developing an exciting and effective product called the Eazy™. I know you
will be amazed at its performance, design,
build quality, price and the clean water it delivers.
It is extremely ‘eazy’ and "clean" to
maintain, has minimal running costs, is
designed and built to last for life.
Great news, available as retro fit for existing customers.
How it works...
The Eazy™ is a stainless steel vessel containing
a volume of static K1 media which is located within the centre chamber of the Nexus. Water
enters the centre chamber and then enters the Eazy™ via slots in the lower
half of the unit. This results in a downward flow causing many of
the larger solids to settle out prior to entering the Eazy™. The size of the
slots will not allow large mechanical waste to enter the cylinder thus
acting as a first stage mechanical filtration.
The water then passes through the
static K1 media utilising up and side flow and this process causes the fine
solids to become entrapped. The mechanically clean water then passes to the
outside chamber of the Nexus where the Kaldnes moving bed™ is located for
biological treatment prior to being returned to the pond.
Maintenance
The Nexus Eazy™ is extremely ‘eazy’ and pleasurable to
clean. The water pump is switched off and an air valve is operated
which diverts air from the main Nexus Air ring into the base of
the Eazy™.This causes the K1 media to be agitated and cleaned vigorously.
As this happens the captured particles are flushed out into the
central chamber of the Nexus, allowing you to see the amount of
waste that has been filtered out.
Once the K1 media has been agitated for a sufficient period,
the water in the central chamber is flushed to waste using the purge valve
provided at the base of the Nexus. Once clean, the air flow is
re-directed back to the main air ring and the system started again. The
whole process from start to finish can take less than two minutes. No high
pressure pumps are needed unlike pressurised systems, there are no running
costs and the media can be visually checked that it is 100% clean after a
maintenance cycle, unlike closed systems.

2000 and 3000 range
Incorporating NEW fines polisher and
air backwash
The exit has been changed so that the fine particles are
trapped in a more efficient manner and are a lot easier to clean and purge
to waste.The resulting clarity incredible! The improvement adds a full
height metal plate (instead of the half plate) and a plastic weir after
it.This new design utilises the whole pack of static K1.This maximises the
cleaning potential and gives GREAT results. Equally as exciting is the air
backwash kit which is part of this improvement.An air line and air valve are
supplied. The air line fits into the ‘D’ shaped exit grill.The
other end is connected to the air supply for the biological stage
using a valve which is supplied. By diverting air from the
existing Nexus air ring, air is transferred to the
base of the outlet.The K1 is agitated vigorously freeing the trapped fines. After
a minute, this water is dropped to waste via the ‘T’ piece gravity users
have always been advised to install. Cleaning is simple, effective, user
friendly and dare I say…enjoyable !! Just like the Nexus Eazy™, there
are MASSIVE benefits with this improvement….greater clarity, user
friendly, so simple to clean and no wet hands.
What this all means...
For people who demand less maintenance and are away a lot
and can afford it, the Nexus 2000™ and Nexus 3000™ (or the new 2005
gravity improvement for existing users) remains the ultimate solution. As of
now there are only 4 types of Nexus systems available. These
take advantage of the incredible new Eazy™ and the new ‘fines
polisher and air backwash system’. To summarise, the 2000/3000 range will
be used for gravity fed installations only and the 200/300 Eazy™ range can
be used on pump or gravity.
There are no systems being supplied without an Answer or
Eazy™ and the foams in the centre and outlets are
now discontinued. In the Eazy™ range, there is nothing in the
outlet, as the Eazy™ itself does such a good job. Both the Eazy™ and
fines polisher/air backwash kit are available to existing Nexus users as
