Always quarantine new fish. Never introduce them to your existing fish until after a quarantine period of 2 to 3 weeks, longer if possible.

Always treat new fish as if they have parasites, viral, fungal, and or bacterial infections. Better to be safe than sorry.

It is also possible that your existing fish have parasites, viral, fungal and or bacterial infections. They may have built up a tolerance, while the new arrivals having undergone the stress of shipment could succumb immediately.

Also these tanks, in conjunction with a small heater, are ideal for growing smaller fish.

The  filter at the heart of the system would be a kf 5000v which would be connected to a pump via ideally an Aquamax 3500 , it enables the filter to be located and operated at a convenient location close to the tank. The systems are available with optional 8 watt or 15 watt UV’s together with a heating option. Using the Elecro Evolution 900 Series of electric heaters (1kW, 2kW or 3kW) ensures required water temperatures are quickly achieved and maintained at any level.

Also available is the Airtech 40 Air Pump, which can be connected to produce a jet stream of air bubbles both in the tank and in the filter system. As well as for quarantining these systems can be used for accommodating fish during a house move, as an isolation unit, when refurbishing or cleaning an existing pond. 

It is a simple matter to be able to connect the Tank to a suitable quarantine size filter such as the KF5000V (shown below) which can be Gravity Fed from the bottom drain on these tanks - that will of course have to be raised so that the water level in the filtration system is exactly the same as it is within the Quarantine Tank when the pump is switched off.

The KF5000-V has an integral Vortex which in our opinion is a must. This filter is without doubt the best selling small filter that Absolute Koi has sold.

The KF5000-V would be a perfect partner with the quarantine systems shown in this section, the system has its own drain off points at the bottom of each chamber and the vortex has its own, we do recommend that you fit the three slide valves and connecting pipe to make your own maintenance even easier.
